Day 1 Nairobi - Maasai Mara
Morning departure from Nairobi, descending the escarpment and driving along the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the Maasai town of Narok. After a stop for refreshments, proceed to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve with game viewing en-route to the overnight camp just outside the reserve. (Permanent Tents)
Day 2 Maasai Mara
Full day game viewing with picnic lunch.
One of Kenya's premier reserves, the Maasai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti and world famous for the spectacular migration of thousands of wildebeest and zebra during the months of July and October. The Mara is also rich in resident game with over 95 species recorded. These include the "Big Five" - elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino - as well as giraffe, hippo, cheetah, hyena, and numerous antelope. The Reserve is also rich in birdlife with over 480 species recorded in recent times. (Permanent Tents)
Day 3 Maasai Mara - Nakuru
Early game drive before breakfast, after breakfast, we leave the camp for another drive, optional visit to a traditional Maasai village, before leaving via Narok to the Rift Valley town of Nakuru. Lunch en-route. We arrive late afternoon and proceed to our accommodation close to the park gate.
For many years Lake Nakuru has been famous for the thousands of flamingo that inhabit the shores of the lake. In recent times, the water level of the lake has fluctuated greatly and this has affected the numbers present at any one time. More importantly, the Park has been established as a rhino sanctuary and these are frequently seen on game drives - along with buffalo, lion, giraffe, waterbuck, and the elusive leopard. Day 4 Nakuru -Nanyuki
After an early breakfast, we enter the park with picnic lunch, ( taken on Baboon Cliff), departing Nakuru about 3 pm and heading for the town of Nanyuki for the evening. (Local Hotel)
Day 5 Nanyuki - Samburu
After an early breakfast, head North from Nanyuki then on to Samburu Game Reserve in time for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight camping close to the entrance of the reserve. (Permanent Tents)
Day 6: Samburu
Early morning game drive, then back to camp for breakfast and a rest in the camp during the heat of the day. After lunch, afternoon game drive until 1830 and back to camp for dinner and overnight. (Permanent Tents)
Day 7 Samburu – Nairobi
Early Morning game drive before breakfast. Further game drive, then proceed to Nairobi with lunch en-route. Arrive Nairobi late afternoon.
