CHARITY WALK IN AID OF “MACMILLAN CANCER TRUST” AND
“HELP OUR HEROES TRUST FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS”

HADRIAN’S WALL- BOUNDARY OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE IN BRITAIN
The wall is named after the Roman Emperor, Hadrian, who ordered its construction in AD122, to keep out the northern barbarian tribes as he described them. It stretches from Wallsend-on-Tyne on the East coast, to Bowness on the West. A distance of about75 miles, (120 kms). The fortresses on the wall were manned for 270 years. Much of the wall has since disappeared, but stretches like the one above are still in place.
On 26th to the 28th of July 2008, retired British soldier, Ken Timms, a veteran of 22 years service, will be walking the route of Hadrian’s Wall, from East to West, a distance of 75 miles, to raise funds for the 2 charities above. The walk will have no backup team. Ken will be camping and carrying all necessary equipment.
The decision to support wounded soldiers is self explanatory, but MacMillan Trust was also chosen as Ken lost his mother to cancer, as have too many others, so the alleviation of suffering for cancer victims is close to his heart.
Anyone willing to sponsor his walk, can contact him on e-mail, k.wildrover@gmail.com
